In the stadium they jointly cheer on their favorite team. Everything else they have in common youngsters from Vienna and Frankfurt will learn at their first “Kick for Europe” meeting. In a series of workshops the young people will experience that even in soccer European topics such as right-wing populism, migration and integration are present.
The workshops will take place in the most exciting class room imaginable: the stadium; in this case the Commerzbank Arena, home arena of the football team Eintracht Frankfurt. The association Lernort Stadion e.V. is making this possible. Its philosophy: The common enthusiasm for football harbors great potential for successful integration and offers starting points for intensified conversations on socio-political topics as well as for strengthening democratic competences.
This European education project will be implemented by BildungsArena Eintracht Frankfurt and the Austrian Football Association. “Kick for Europe” is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office in collaboration with the TUI Foundation, the Allianz Cultural Foundation and the Schwarzkopf Foundation.
