Each summer musicians from all over the world come to Krzyżowa (Poland) to rehearse together, to share their experiences and to perform classical and modern chamber music.
International acclaimed artists (“seniors”) spend two weeks in workshops with approximately 40 young musicians (“juniors”) where they work on a highly selective festival program that will be performed in 9 concerts in the Lower Silesia region.
Inspired by the renowned American chamber music festival Marlboro Music – founded by musicians who were forced into exile in the 1930s – the participants at Krzyżowa-Music not only rehearse together, but also exchange their thoughts and ideas during a series of symposia and exhibitions. In 2017, the topics are, among others, “Musicians in Exile” and “Musicians in Resistance”.
As a highly symbolic place of resistance against the Nazi-regime, Krzyżowa, a town that also perfectly illustrates the Polish-German reconciliation, offers the ideal scenery for this unique European chamber music festival.
